Go ahead and admit it. You watch the Super Bowl as much for the commercials as the game and at Futurety, we don’t blame you. This year’s Super Bowl is expected to draw in 193.8 million viewers from across the world, making it the perfect opportunity to get your brand in front of a very large and very diverse audience.

Believe it or not, the average cost for a 30-second ad spot in the Super Bowl is estimated to be $5.6 million, a record high, and account for roughly 50 minutes of screen time throughout the duration of the program.

With such a large investment, it’s important brands use their time wisely and grab the attention of every single viewer glued to their TV. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite advertisements from this year’s showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jeep

This year’s Super Bowl happened to fall on Groundhog Day, a popular tradition observed in the United States and Canada. Groundhog Day has become increasingly popular due to the hit 90’s movie ‘Groundhog Day’ starring Bill Murray who finds himself reliving the same day over and over again.

Jeep’s ad spot perfectly outlines the original ‘Groundhog Day’ storyline while highlighting the Jeep Gladiator and its unique ability to conquer the unexpected.

Google

Leave it to Google to have us Googling “Where can I find tissues?” after their tearjerker of a commercial. This year’s Google ad spot featured a powerful story of a man sharing memories of his wife, Loretta, through the use of his Google Assistant.

Google manages to transform its products into a personal, meaningful message of allowing technology to help with things like remembering our loved ones long after they’re gone.

Amazon

Ahhh, a life before Amazon Alexa… simpler times, right? Well, maybe not. In this 90-second ad spot, Amazon uses some dry humor to show us what requests like “what’s today’s news?” or “play that song I like” would have looked like before the help of voice assistants.

Hulu

The New England Patriots might not have been on the field this year, but leave it to quarterback Tom Brady to still make a splash during the Super Bowl.

In case you missed it, Brady is set to become a free agent during this offseason, creating speculation across the sports world. Will he stay with the Patriots? Will he join a new team? Or will he retire?

With a single tweet from Brady meant to be a teaser for the Hulu ad spot, fans were scrambling to see if he was walking toward the field or away from it. During the full version of the ad aired during the Super Bowl, Brady explains “Hulu doesn’t just have live sports. It has your favorite TV channels, plus the greatest shows, movies, and originals of all time.”

The commercial closes with a message from Brady stating “I’m not going anywhere”. Could that be a message to Patriots fans or just a reminder he isn’t retiring anytime soon?

Tide

Tide has created a reputation for itself for exceptional Super Bowl commercials and when they took a break from the action last year, viewers noticed. This year, Tide is back, with a little help from the ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ star, Charlie Day.

Day’s character was told to wait to clean his shirt that got stained at the beginning of the game. Spiraling, Day questions when exactly is “later”? Throughout the multiple ad spots Tide aired during the game, Day crosses paths with the Bud Light Knight, The Masked Singer, and Wonder Woman. Talk about some serious cross-promotion!

While the game may have ended in a victory for the Kansas City Chiefs, don’t expect the conversation around the Super Bowl commercials to settle. Leave us a comment below and let us know what your favorite ad spot was from this year’s big game.
